Classroom Knowledge

There are many principles and ideas that I have learned thus far in Fitness and Health promotion that can be applied to how I carry myself in my work place.

So far in Fitness and Health Promotion, not only have I learned basic anatomy and physiology, I have also learned a lot about how to treat clients and explain new ideas or concepts to them that have been taught to me. I think the most applicable course that I can think of would be my Client counselling course. In that course, we learn how to specifically speak with a manage all different types of clients, and how to deliver a message so that not only do they understand but they can see that you're happy and passionate about helping them. We discuss different mechanisms and ways of conveying a message so that any type of client can be assessed and worked with at a high level of success.

Another way my classroom knowledge applies to my workplace is by having an understanding of basic anatomy, it allows me to understand what muscles are being worked and why they need to be. It also allows me to understand that every muscle has an equally as important antagonist muscle, so when trying to alleviate pain for a client, it's important to be careful and knowing what not to move or touch helps a lot. Having an understanding of what goes on at school is very important, but being able to apply it in a place of work is what really counts in the long run!

  1. Hi Jacob!

I think it's great that you're able to apply knowledge in the classroom to your workplace, because for some people that doesn't always come easy. I myself am learning to apply what I've learned in the classroom in to my workplace as well, as I too am a student in the Fitness and Health Promotion program. Try to absorb as much as you can and keep on doing your thing man because I can see great things in your future and I'm eager to see where the future takes you
