Managing School, work, and an internship is no easy task to deal with, but there are many tricks I have learned over the past semester and a bit that made my life much easier when it came to doing so.
The first trick I learned which may seem like common sense to some, but not for me, was to refrain from procrastinating! It's understandable that you may be tired from school, and then you may have to go to work or your internship, and all you want to do when you get home is have a nap or turn on Netflix (as I usually do). It's really important to NOT do this. Getting homework out of the way, even after a busy day or busy week makes you feel so much better and alleviates the stress you're putting on yourself from procrastinating!
Another trick I learned was to always ask the teacher for help and feedback. All teachers have an email for a reason; for you to use it! Anytime I have a question or I'm unsure of what I am being asked to do I always ask a teacher for help because not only will it help you complete your assignment on time, it will also take away the stress you're getting from being unclear of what is being asked of you. The quicker you ask for help, the less time you're going to spend on that assignment giving you more time to balance other things in your life.
The last trick that I found very useful over the last semester is to check blackboard as often as possible! I completely understand that Instagram or Twitter is much more fun to scroll through than scrolling through blackboard looking at assignments, trust me. By doing this you're not only informing yourself on what needs to be done, but all courses have a syllabus which you can print out or use to model your schedule around! Being organized lets you complete your tasks more orderly, and again will hopefully alleviate some stress that you get from trying to balance school, work, and internships!
I hope this blog helped you in any sort of way!

Hey Jacob,
ReplyDeleteSadly I strive to become one of the greatest procastinators of all time. Its one of my worst qualities entering college but with the first semester out of the way I decided to work on a gameplan and change it up. Destroy my old habits and create newer ones for the second semester. I now aspire to become the most valuable non-procrastinators of all time. I hope that nothing valuable comes on netflix within the next few months.
CHEERS.
