One of the goals I made for myself to achieve in my industry experience is to work at least 6 hours a week and maintain a relationship with my supervisor.
I thought this was a great goal to make because I think one of the most important things about achieving success at your placement is to be consistent and diligent in your work every time you're there. By doing this, not only are you showing everyone around you that you can work at a high level of proficiency but that you actually want to be there! If your supervisor sees this, he or she may be more inclined to offer you a full or part-time job at the end of your placement. We as students are also required to complete a second round of industry experience in our fourth semester, and by maintaining a healthy and positive relationship with your supervisor, it will allow you to keep the door open for future opportunities at the organization.
Keeping yourself at a minimum of 6 hours per week will also help maintain a relationship with your supervisor by showing them you are consistent. It is not optimal to complete all of your hours right from the start and refrain from showing up again because one, they might think you were only there to obtain your 60 hours and didn't actually care about anything they taught you, or two, they might even forget you were ever there if their schedule gets too busy. As long as you can put out a consistent amount of hours per week and show up with a positive, hard-working attitude, maintaining a relationship with your supervisor will come with ease!
